Te rerenga whakamīharo ā te kuaka - the amazing flight of the kuaka

Semester 1, 2025: 10 Feb - 27 June (no classes during school holidays and public holidays)
Classes will be held on a Tuesday evening from 6.30-8.30pm.
What will you learn on this course?
In this beginners course you will gain the confidence to confidently listen to, read, write and speak basic te reo Māori words and phrases that enable you to create a Māori speaking kāinga.
You will learn about tikanga Māori relevant to the theme for each week and a broad overview of Ngāti Pāoa history.
You are also expected to a noho marae at the end of the semester.
Te kuaka manawa piharau - The determined kuaka
Start dates
Semester 1, 2025: 10 Feb - 27 June (no classes during school holidays or on public holidays)
Classes will be held on a Monday evening from 6.30-8.30pm (subject to change depending on Kaiako availability).
What will you learn on this course?
To enrol in this course you must have completed the level one course in 2024 or Te rerenga whakamīharo a te kuaka, or have previously completed a beginners course of at least ten weeks.
This course continues to expand on your ability to confidently listen to, read, write and speak basic te reo Māori words and phrases that enable you to create a Māori speaking kāinga.
You will continue to learn about tikanga Māori relevant to the theme for each week and you will explore Ngāti Pāoa stories of significance.
You are also expected to attend a noho marae at the end of the semester.
Other requirements
As these are online courses, you must have a reliable device and internet connection. You also need a Gmail account as we use Google Classroom and Google Meets as an online learning platform.
Once you have enrolled, your place in the course is automatically accepted. You will receive further information including a link to join Google Classroom and a link to your online class no later than 2 weeks prior to the start of the course.
