Celebrating Success - "Muru"

“Muru” is a action-drama film about the 2007 police raids of the Ngāi Tūhoe community of Rūātoki. Directed by Tearepa Kahi (Ngati Paoa, Waikato Tainui), "Muru" was chosen to open the NZ International Film Festival 2022. His previous works include Mt. Zion, the most successful Kiwi movie of 2012, and two documentaries; Moa-nominated hit Poi E: The Story of Our Song, and 2019's Herbs - Songs of Freedom.

Koia kei a koe!!

Hui - ā - Tau Annual General Meeting

This year the Iwi Trust AGM will be held at Kerepēhi Marae, McGowan Avenue, Kerepēhi on Sunday 25th September 2022 from 10am-12pm followed by kaihākari.

Our NPIT board members will provide an update on our Settlement and provide an overview of the past (where we’ve come from), the present (our current projects and activities), and future opportunities.

Look forward to seeing there!

Bridge St Properties

Two Bridge St properties in Panmure are being returned to the NPIT through an arrangement with Auckland Transport and former NPIT negotiators. NPIT requested the homes to be brought up to the Healthy Homes Standards, and after a number of conversations held across July 2022 it was agreed that ATEED would bring these homes undertake the mahi to meet Healthy Homes requirments. As of August 2022, the homes have been brought up to standard and are ready to be transferred to the iwi.

The board will soon be going into discussions as to how these properties can be best utilized to serve the iwi, and looks forward to seeing these homes occupied in the near future.

Opportunities for Impact

The Ngati Paoa Iwi Trust have been working towards increasing our Ngati Paoa presences on boards, and in forums or bodies that we are invited to participate in and  efforts are underway to upskill and build our capacity to participate in these governance spaces. We are looking to find a group of people who are keen to represent Ngati Paoa in these spaces.

  • If you are interested in and have experience in the Commercial, Education, and Health Sectors, in Te Reo Maori, Iwi histories, Arts, Museum practices, or Cultural practices; and,

  • If you wish to learn about governance, or have previous governance experience; and

  • If you wish to be active in your iwi space, then follow the link below and let us know about you and your areas of interests.

Seeking Experienced CE

The Ngati Paoa Iwi Trust are currently seeking a Chief Executive to join us full time on a 24-month fixed term contract with the potential to extend. As the CE you will be a pragmatic leader who is experienced in putting in place the foundations for good operations. You will be working with a supportive board who are wanting to get out of operations and focus on governance, so you will have the autonomy to make this role your own. You will be supporting initiatives from early concept, through to implementation and transition them into business as usual, using appropriate methodologies and structures.
